The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) was established as the first national institute for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the government of West Bengal, the Ford Foundation and Indian industry. IIM Calcutta has one of the most breath-takingly beautiful academic campuses in the country – spotted with scenic locales, five lakes, exotic birds, and a miniature Howrah Bridge. The campus is also reputed to be among the prettiest institute campuses in India. There are 7 large lakes with an attendant jetty and a bridge.

Eligibility Criteria for PGDM:
A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD) categories], awarded by any of the Universities.
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
Short listing criteria for Personal Interviews:
Candidates are short listed on the basis of CAT 2016 score, past academic performance, and other criteria provided. The minimum qualifying section-wise and overall percentile in CAT 2016 as per Table 1 below is the pre-requisite for consideration for PI stage.
Please note that the actual section-wise and overall percentile of a short-listed candidate may be much higher than the mentioned minimum percentile as the short-listing for PI is done on the basis of a composite score.

The composite score for first stage is calculated on the basis of CAT score, Class X and Class XII aggregate percentages, and gender diversity factor.Method of allotting points for Class X and Class XII percentages of marks is based on aggregate scores and given in Table 2 below.

Candidates based on their composite score will be called for the PI stage of the selection process that would comprise a Personal Interview (PI) and a Written Ability Test (WAT). The composite score is calculated based on Table 3.

Final Selection Criteria:
A candidate’s final score for selection is calculated on the basis of Table 4. Table 4 indicates the criteria and their weights to be used for the final selection for PGP-PGDM for the 2017-19 batch.

For work experience, a maximum of Four points will be awarded depending on the length of service as on January 31, 2017 (Please refer Table 5). Only managerial work experience after graduation will be considered. Training/Project work/work done as an integral part of curricular requirement will not be considered.

The final selection list will be based on merit in each category; minimum qualification on the above mentioned criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission into IIM Calcutta.
Expenses:
The fee for its flagship two-year postgraduate programme in management (PGPM) is INR 19 lakhs for Indian students.
The total fee for the overseas student is USD 55,000 (Fifty five Thousands Only) for a period of two years. In addition to the course fees, the overseas student is required to pay one time refundable caution deposit of INR 10,000. Living and other expenses during the period of his/her stay are payable in Indian rupees which are extra.
