Quant Question Of The Day: 125
Counting
How many rectangles of different dimensions are possible to form, if 6 parallel lines intersect with 8 parallel lines perpendicular to initial set of lines ? ( Assume that all lines are equispaced )
A. 210
B. 205
C. 21
D. 25

Assume, distance between the parallel lines in both vertical and horizontal direction is unity.
Number of rectangles (of different dimensions ) are
1 × 1 to 1 × 7 = 7
2 × 2 to 2 × 7 = 6
3 × 3 to 3 × 7 = 5
4× 4 to 4 × 7 = 4
5 × 5 to 5 × 7 = 3
So total number of such triangles is 25 .
