** A, B, C, and D can do a piece of work in 2 days. A and B together can do it in 6 days and C alone can do it in 9 days, in how many days can D alone do it**

**Solution**

**Say work = 18 units**

**Rate of a+b+c+d = 18/2 = 9 units/day**

**rate of a=b = 18/6 = 3 units/day**

**rate of c = 18/9 = 2 units/ day**

**hence rate of d = 9-(3+2) =4 units/ day**

**so time take by d = 18/4 = 4.5 days**
